COVID-19 vaccination centre at Terminal Intermoda in BSD City exceeds target to vaccinate more than 5,700 members of the public

BSD City, Indonesia, 17 August 2021 – Mitbana (a joint venture company of Mitsubishi Corporation and Surbana Jurong) and Sinar Mas Land have successfully concluded their COVID-19 vaccination drive at Terminal Intermoda BSD City which served 5,747 people between 12 to 16 August 2021. Organised by their partnership company PT Sinar Mitbana Mas (SMM) Intermoda in conjunction with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia and the Tangerang District Government, this exercise exceeded the original target of catering to 5,000 members of the public aged 12 years old and above. The second vaccination dose will be administered 28 days later, at the same location.

The Intermoda Vaccination Center catered to 5,747 people aged 12 years old and over from 12 to 16 August 2021.

The Regent of Tangerang, Ahmed Zaki Iskandar expressed his appreciation to PT SMM Intermoda and said, “As we celebrate Indonesia’s 76th Independence Day today, we also want to recognise the efforts by Mitbana and Sinar Mas Land in helping Indonesia build long-term facilities and infrastructure that will serve our communities. This vaccination centre is a further testimony of their commitment and we are glad for their support of our national government’s efforts to accelerate vaccination rates to battle the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Chief Executive Officer of Mitbana and President Director of PT Sinar Mitbana Mas Intermoda, Gareth Wong said, “We are extremely heartened by the positive response received by our vaccination drive at Terminal Intermoda BSD City. Repurposing the existing Intermoda bus exchange into a makeshift vaccination centre proved to be a right decision, as its accessible location and well-ventilated spaces allowed us to ensure the safety of our healthcare workers and members of the public during the vaccination process. We are encouraged by this exercise and will build on this experience to create more adaptable, pandemic-relevant public spaces in our Intermoda TOD to cater to the larger well-being of the communities that we serve.”

CEO of Residential BSD City at Sinar Mas Land and Vice President Director of PT Sinar Mitbana Mas Intermoda, Theodore Thenoch said, “Sinar Mas Land continues to provide amiable surroundings for our residents. Such efforts not only improve our built environment, they also ensure that we can address the safety, health and wellness of our residents. Together with our valued partner Mitbana, we sincerely hope that the thousands of people who have been vaccinated at Terminal Intermoda BSD City can help our local community to achieve herd immunity and break the spread of COVID-19 in our surroundings.”

One of the vaccine recipients named Eni said, “I feel relieved and safe after getting my first dose of COVID-19 vaccine at the Intermoda vaccine centre. The event was orderly and executed with strict health protocols. I feel safe and comfortable here. Thanks to Mitbana and Sinar Mas Land for creating a vaccination centre close to where we live, and which is easy to be accessed by the community around Intermoda BSD City.”

A positive response also came from Andi, a 13-year-old vaccinated at the event. He said, “I have been waiting for COVID-19 vaccine centres that can cater to teenagers and I finally received my first dose here. Hopefully, the people who have received the shot will continue to practice good health protocols for the safety of our community.”

Iko, one of the vendors from Pasar Modern Intermoda said, “I am very pleased that Intermoda’s developer, Sinar Mas Land and its foreign partner, Mitbana, are not only focused on their ongoing development, but also on the health and welfare of the vendors at Intermoda BSD City. We hope that the efforts made by the two companies will continue to bring positive impact for our community.”
