Managing construction of a development project in Myanmar’s second-largest city

Client and Surbana International Consultants Myanmar at the contract signing ceremony

The client, Phwint Phyo Thit Company Limited, and Surbana International Consultant (Myanmar) representatives at the contract signing ceremony.

Surbana Jurong, through its local entity Surbana International Consultants (Myanmar), was recently engaged to provide construction management and engineering supervision services for the Ye Dagun Taung City Development Project in Patheingyi Township, Mandalay, Myanmar.

Ye Dagun Taung City is a mixed-use development project owned by Phwint Phyo Thit Company Limited and covers 500 acres. The project will comprise economic, amusement, and residential zones. These will include villas, shopping centers, an international school, an amusement park, an international hospital, a golf course, low-rise apartments, community houses, and hotels.

As construction management and engineering supervision consultant, Surbana Jurong manages infrastructure works, including roads, pavements, drainage, general landscape works, installation of the electrical network, and water supply network. Sinohydro Corporation Limited is the local contractor for infrastructure construction work, while Archetype Myanmar provided the master planning, architectural concept design of all buildings, and full infrastructure design for the new main road access.

SJ won the construction management and engineering construction contract due to its strong local presence and reputation and its ability to form a hybrid team of international experts and local specialists. This is one of SJ’s most significant project wins in Mandalay, Myanmar’s second-largest city after Yangon. Project construction is targeted for completion in 2026.
