As part of SMEC’s focus on contributing to the communities, the SMEC Foundation has donated a borehole and water tank to the University Teaching Hospital Special School in Zambia. The school helps children with special needs by equipping them with the ability to perform basic activities independently, and aims to facilitate their joining the mainstream education system. It has 120 pupils between the ages of five and 16.

At the handover ceremony, headmistress Mutolo Phiri thanked SMEC Foundation for the generous donation, stating that the water reticulation system has improved the operations of the school. SMEC Foundation is the charity arm of SMEC, a member of the Surbana Jurong Group.
