Heathrow Airport Terminal 2

The construction of London  Heathrow Terminal 2 marks the next phase of development to maintain  Heathrow’s standing as a  world class airport with  exceptional passenger  experience.  Terminal 2 is set to be one of the most  modern airport terminals in the world,  offering passengers improved service,  better facilities and faster connections.

Robert Bird Group provided Structural  Engineering design services to support the  Contractor in their application of a Design  for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA)  strategy on this prestigious project. RBG’s scope included the conversion of 800 long basement perimeter retaining  wall and 30,000 sqm of suspended ground floor slab from reinforced concrete design to precast solutions.  This aimed to produce a high quality structure which could be erected efficiently whilst minimizing health and safety  risks on site.
