Surbana Jurong and SAA Architects Pte Ltd, a member of Surbana Jurong Group, have been ranked as BCI Asia’s Top Ten Architects in Singapore for 2020/2021. The award recognizes Surbana Jurong Group’s 1,000 architects and design specialists worldwide who continually transform urban spaces, improve human experiences and drive sustainable growth.
The BCI Asia Awards recognize the country’s leading developers and architecture firms that have made the greatest contributions to the built environment sector in the region. As one of the most anticipated and coveted awards for the construction sector in Southeast Asia, the Top Ten Architects are identified as the firms with the greatest aggregate value of projects under construction during the last calendar year by the extent of their sustainability and confirmed Green building ratings.
During the awards ceremony on 1 Sept, Ms. Ivy Koh, Director of SJ architecture, shared how architecture design can resolve some of the Covid-19 challenges, and how architects need to push the boundaries of design in a post-pandemic future. Flexible designs, she noted, which address sanitation issues, need to be included for what is defined as a “pandemic-ready” apartment for occupants who may be quarantined or self-isolating.
