Surbana Jurong has signed an MOU with Hong Kong-based Rocco Design Architects (RDA) to jointly pursue high-profile architectural projects in Asia. A dedicated studio named Surbana Jurong Rocco Design Studio will be formed for this collaboration.

The MOU was signed earlier this year by Surbana Jurong Group CEO Wong Heang Fine and Rocco Yim, Executive Director of RDA. Through the partnership, Surbana Jurong aims to expand its portfolio of high-profile design projects such as large-scale educational institutions, healthcare facilities and mixed-use complexes.

Surbana Jurong and RDA will leverage each other’s strengths to pursue projects that have a strong design component, such as potential landmarks and unique architectural features. Under the partnership, Surbana Jurong will be responsible for project management and engineering and architectural services, while RDA will be responsible for design concept development and schematic design.

Founded in Hong Kong in 1982, RDA has over 170 staff with offices in Hong Kong and China. RDA has designed many iconic buildings in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, including Guangzhou Museum, HKSAR Government Headquarters, and the Okura Prestige Taipei. Their works have consistently won prestigious awards both locally and overseas, including the Chicago Athenaeum Architectural Awards in 2013 and ULI Global Award of Excellence in 2014.
