SJ Global Academy (SJA) at Adam Park in Singapore was officially opened on 5 December 2019 by Mr Liew Mun Leong, Chairman of the Surbana Jurong Group. SJA will play a vital part to help staff learn anywhere and anytime, improve their skill-sets, and learn competencies relevant to discerning and globally-minded clients’ needs.  It will also be the platform for participants, primarily our staff from various continents and countries coming together — online and offline — to challenge assumptions, examine new possibilities and explore new ways of tackling some of today’s most complex infrastructure challenges.

In fact, besides officiating at the opening of the Academy, Chairman set the tone and tenor of the importance of SJA to the Group. He led the first “class”, sharing a session called Leadership Made Simple and giving insights from his experience on leadership. Looking ahead, SJA will be the place for the Group to draw on ideas and opinions not only from outside the company but also from our own experts within the different geographies and diverse business areas, as SJ Group is fast becoming a leading international infrastructure company.

Other plans include Chairman’s Dialogue, GCEO’s Leadership Series, SJA Thought Leadership Talks and Lunch and Learn, as well as informal sharing by colleagues on topics of interest. It has recently rolled out an online Learning Management System for employees to learn curated courses any time and anywhere.

Nestled in lush greenery and choice location, the beautifully renovated colonial-styled bungalow was among a group of bungalow houses built in 1929 for a largely British, Australian and New Zealand community, featuring tennis lawns and putting greens. During World War II, No. 7 Adam Park housed a British battalion.

Today, the large exterior space, bathed in verdant greens and a tropical landscape, provides the flexibility of use – from hosting corporate functions, to outdoor networking and team building events. Accentuating a rich historical charm, the fully air-conditioned interior has a modern and contemporary design, and will be home to a variety of management talks and training programmes.
