Mr Wong was invited as a panellist to share his views on cross-border collaboration and what it takes for Oman to achieve success in building world-class infrastructure and liveable cities.

With Surbana Jurong’s established track record around the world, the Group is often called upon to share our experiences in partnering countries in their journeys towards sustainable urban and infrastructural development.

On 27 and 28 January 2019, Group CEO Wong Heang Fine was invited to participate as a panellist at the Oman 2040 National Conference, held in Muscat, Oman, to offer his views on cross-border collaboration and what it takes for Oman to achieve success in building world-class infrastructure and liveable cities.

Speaking on the topic “Economic cooperation and integration, and its importance in realising the vision”, Mr Wong’s key message was on the importance of building strong people relationships among various stakeholders. In ASEAN, there have been many success stories in economic achievements and that is due to governments being able to develop good frameworks of cooperation among neighbouring countries. Likewise, companies also need to be able to leverage competencies from within and beyond borders. “Whatever vision you have, ultimately it is the people who will carry through the vision,” he said.
