SMEC Philippines took part in a national initiative to improve the environment in public schools, including the repainting of walls and ceilings (below).

Volunteers from SMEC Philippines participated in “Brigada Eskwela”, a week-long nationwide initiative by the Philippines’ Department of Education to help improve the facilities of public learning institutions ahead of the new school year.

Heeding the call of the government to improve the environment in public schools, the team from SMEC, which is a member of the Surbana Jurong Group, committed their time and effort one weekend at Maybunga Elementary School in Pasig City to repaint the walls and ceilings of classrooms, and wax the corridor floors. While it was exhausting, everyone found the activity a meaningful one where teamwork and unity were displayed for a good cause.
